Процесс дуговой сварки металлов за счет их нагрева дугой между электродом и заготовкой (перемещаемая дуга) или электродом и соплом резака (неперемещаемая дуга). Защитная атмосфера создается горячим ионизированным газом, окружающим электрод; также может быть использован вспомогательный источник защитного газа, который может быть инертным газом или смесью газов. Давление и присадочный металл могут применяться в случае необходимости.
